Hola!

My last report is already 2 weeks ago. Time goes really fast though I notice that i’m already starting to miss some things from home. I cannot really say something exciting about the last 2 weeks in Valencia, except that my friend lia came over to visit me. She is going to do her exchange in Madrid for 5 months and wanted to visit me in Valencia before she starts her study course there. Buttttttt, this was not the only reason for her to come. We already booked a trip to Ibiza when we were still in the Netherlands. So last 2 weeks ago our trip to ibiza started. My roommate robin, also booked a last minute trip so she joined us!!

We did not know what to expect from ibiza, except that it is very expensive. At 6.45 o’clock we flew to the beautiful party island. In our hostel, which incidentally was very nice, we had to wait till 13.00 to enter our room. We were so tired when we arrived so we all slept for a few houres in the restaurant of our hostel. At 12.00 o’clock Marie-lena, a friend of Lia, arrived so we decided to go to the beach. We found this incredibly little bay. I cannot describe how beautiful it was there. Even the pictures are dissapointing for us compared to the view we had every day.

We already knew that the parties in ibiza are actually not affortable for poor students so we decided to go to Ibiza town in the evening. There was not really something going on.
The next day we went to an other bay, which was also quite nice. In the afternoon we met a promoter who offered us a package with discount. The next day we went to a boatparty, which was included in the package from the day before. This boat brought us to the island formatera where we could enjoy the amazing sunset. During the day we could drink for free. In the evening we went to a club and the next day again to an other big club. The parties were ofcourse really cool but I would never go back to ibiza for the parties since it is all so expensive and not that impressive for me. We obviously had a great weekend with the 4 of us.

The wednesday after we came back there was this big famous festival in a small village near Valencia. I already heard about it in the Spanish class and I really wanted to go there, since the teacher told me that it’s absolutely awesome to see this crazy happening. The festival is called ‘ La Tomatina’. It was very hard to find tickets for it because it actually was already sold out. Luckely, we could still get some tickets via the Valencia Erasmus organisation. At 7 o’clock in the morning we Had to gather so we could leave all together by buss. There came 30000 people to this little village all with the same goal: throw tomatoes at each other. The city was secluded with police cars. This meant that once you were inside, you could not go out anymore. When the start signal went off at 11 o’clock a saw a number of trucks arriving who tried to move through the crowd. The people in the trucks were obviously standing in kilo’s of tomatoes which they threw to the people. At some point (of course the point where we were standing) they emptied the trucks. All the people around it jumped like crazy monkeys into the tomatoes and started a big tomatoe fight. I’ve never seen something that was crazy like this. Everyone was completely red of the tomatoes. You could hardly move so we were forced to join the fight. After all, it was very interesting and special in a way to experience this once, but I would never go there again.

Because we had not done enough this week we went to madrid last thursday to visit some classmates who are doing their study exchange there. We had a lot of fun the last weekend of our holiday and they showed us a bit around in this big city. Jorris, Bas and Wing; thank you for your hospitality and we will see you soon in valencia!!

The first month in Spain was already amazing but I’m ready to start my internship now. Im excited and curious about this new adventure.

Buenoss!!
